Visas

Section Overview

The Tashkent Consular Section provides visa services to Uzbeks and third-country nationals, including nonimmigrant and immigrant visas.

Overview of Visas

A visa is issued by a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. A visa gives you permission to apply for admission to the United States. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS, formerly INS) officers at the U.S. port of entry will determine how long you are permitted to stay.

A citizen of Uzbekistan, wishing to enter the U.S., must first obtain a visa, either a nonimmigrant visa for a temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. The type of visa you must have is defined by immigration law, and relates to the purpose of your travel.
