2/3/2012 - WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo.  -- The 2012 Wings Over Whiteman Air Show and Open House is scheduled May19 and 20. This free, family oriented event is expected to draw spectators from all over the region.

"It's my pleasure to invite the public to attend the 2012 Wings Over Whiteman Air Show and Open House," said Brig. Gen. Scott Vander Hamm, 509th Bomb Wing commander. "This opportunity allows community members and those coming from outside the area to get an up close look at the personnel and capabilities that help our Airmen carry out missions across the globe. This year's headliner, the U.S. Army Golden Knights, is set to deliver another spectacular performance as seen in years past.

"We hope to see many new faces, as well as our veterans as this event is dedicated to the local community and the support and partnerships that enable each of us to serve to the best of our abilities on a daily basis," Vander Hamm said.

While still in the planning stages, the Wings Over Whiteman schedule also feature dozens of static displays, exhibition aircraft, vintage and modern war birds and much more. As plans progress, additional aerial acts are scheduled to be added.

Along with the aerial demonstrations and static displays, all aircraft that call Whiteman AFB home, to include the B-2 Spirit, T-38 Talon, A-10 Thunderbolt II and AH-64 D Apache helicopter will be available for viewing.

Spectators will also enjoy entertainment throughout the event by an Air Force Band.

Admission and parking are free and times will be announced at a later date.

More information will be announced and can be found by searching Wings Over Whiteman via Facebook, www.wingsoverwhiteman.com or by calling 660-687-6439.
