Visitors to the American Library may take advantage of the books, reference materials, magazines, videos, and information services available in the library. Visitors may also use the library’s computers to access our extensive collection of online databases or other Internet resources.

The American Library staff is happy to assist you with locating materials or online searches. If you cannot visit the library, staff members also respond to research and reference queries submitted through telephone, fax, mail, or e-mail to kathmandupdlibrary@state.gov

Please note that the library is located on the U.S. Embassy compound and all visitors must pass through the security check. Please bring a photo ID with you. Cell phones and cameras are not permitted inside.

6 month student membership: Rs. 200 (Rs. 100 to renew)
6 month membership for non-students: Rs. 300 (Rs. 150 to renew)

American Corners

American Corners are partnerships between the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu and local organizations in six locations throughout Nepal. They provide many of the same resources that are available at the American Library, including computers with Internet access, reference materials, and English-language resources. The American Corners also organize programs and events that highlight American culture.
