Medal of Honor awarded to Rear Admiral Mark C. Montgomery

On December 11th, U.S. European Command's Deputy Director of Plans, Policy and Strategy, Rear Admiral Mark C. Montgomery received Medal of Merit from interim Lithuanian Defence Minister R. Juknevičienė for his active role ensuring security of Lithuania and entire region.
Admiral Montgomery, in his final visit to the Baltics as deputy director of J5 at U.S. European Command, was interviewed by Alfa.lt, a popular internet news portal. The focus of the interview was primarily on the importance of Lithuania reaching the NATO target for defense spending, but even more critically to maintain capability. In addition, he discussed Lithuania’s critical role in ISAF’s efforts to maintain security in Afghanistan, including what the future may hold in this regard.
