Education Advising Center

The Educational Advising Center (EAC) in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan is a part of the EducationUSA network of hundreds of advising centers in 170 countries that provide accurate, comprehensive, and current information about how to apply to accredited U.S. colleges and universities.

The EAC is freely accessible to students, non-governmental organizations, government officials and ordinary citizens who wish to learn more about educational opportunities in the U.S.

The EAC is staffed by a professional adviser who has first-hand experience with the U.S. educational system. The EAC advisor receives State Department-approved training about higher education in the United States and the advising process.

The staff of the EAC put a priority on reaching diverse populations and educating a wide variety of potential applicants interested in academic programs in the United States. Potential applicants to U.S. universities are welcome to make an appointment for an individual consultation or to attend a group advising session.

The EAC has a free public-access Internet center, where potential applicants to U.S. institutions can research U.S. universities, study for the TOEFL and SAT, prepare application materials, and search for scholarships and financial aid.

Every week potential applicants to U.S. colleges and universities can attend lectures and presentations on the application process to U.S. colleges, standardized tests required for admission, the U.S. educational system, and statement of purpose writing.

The EAC library offers a wide range of English language materials, including U.S. college and university program catalogues, study guides for standardized tests, English language textbooks and teaching materials, and novels. All materials can be checked out and taken home by library patrons with a valid EAC library card. The EAC reaches over 1,000 individuals per month, including individuals visiting the library, using the computers/Internet, and attending advising presentations and lectures.
