• If unable to reach the cell phone, please call (91) (33) 3984-2400 and dial "0" and ask for Duty Officer.

Note: "91" is India's country code; please omit it if calling from within India. "33" is Kolkata's city code; please omit it if calling from within Kolkata.  If calling from within India but outside of Kolkata, one must dial "0" before "33".

To contact the Indian police, simply dial 100.

The American Citizen Services Unit at the U.S. Consulate in Kolkata can assist when a U.S. citizen in India is arrested, missing, is a victim of violent crime, becomes ill or dies, or when there is otherwise a need for immediate help.  We can assist with information on local resources and by contacting family members in the United States apprised of the circumstances, so that they can make necessary decisions and provide financial and logistical support.

Please note that we can only replace lost and stolen passports during normal office hours.
