Getting a Visa
Special Announcement: Update February 11, 2013: All visa services at the U. S. Embassy in Khartoum are still suspended until further notice.
On September 14, 2012 protestors attacked the U. S. Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan. For security reasons the Consular Section is closed to the public until further notice. The Embassy regrets the inconvenience this temporary suspension causes for persons wishing to visit the United States. At this time, we do not know when the U. S. Embassy will resume Consular and visa services. Please monitor our website for information on resumption of service.
All Consular services currently suspended include (but not limited to):
- Routine U. S. Citizen Services (ACS)
- Nonimmigrant visas (NIV)
- Follow-to-Join/Asylee processing (Visas 92/93)
- DNA Testing
Nonimmigrant Visas
Sudanese applicants who need to travel before the resumption of visa services at U. S. Embassy Khartoum may apply for nonimmigrant visas at any U. S. Embassy or Consulate outside of the Sudanwhich provides visa services. The same standards under U. S. law and policy apply to each Embassy and Consulate where one applies for a visa. Information on the location of U. S. visa-issuing embassies and consulates is available at www.travel.state.gov. the non-refundable, non-transferable MRV application fee must be paid in the country of application, according to procedures established by each U. S. embassy or consulate.

Location of U.S. Embassy Khartoum
The U.S. Embassy in Khartoum is located on Block 088, Kilo Asharah, Soba, off Wad Medani Highway. Consular visitors should use the separate entrance at the east end of the complex that is marked for consular services. Applicants must complete a CEAC application prior to scheduling an appointment.
