Welcome to the American Citizen Services section of the United States Embassy in Quito, Ecuador.  Here you will find information regarding the services which are available to American Citizens living abroad in Ecuador.  We hope you find the information available useful in answering any questions which may arise throughout your stay in Ecuador.

The American Citizens Services (ACS) Section provides assistance with several services including:

For calls concerning the arrest, injury, serious illness, or death of an American citizen after regular business hours (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), please call: (593-2) 398-5000 and follow the instructions.

We encourage U.S. Citizens who reside abroad or plan to travel around the world to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program for information and updates on travel and safety.

  • SCAM – ARRESTED IN ECUADOR

    If you have been contacted to send money to a loved one in Ecuador, please see the link below first!

    Criminals commonly attempt to scam money from travelers' family members by posing as the traveler and claiming to be in trouble.  Criminals will also pose as local authority figures (police officers, judges, etc.) and also as embassy officials in order to gain the trust of victims in these cases.

    If you are a U.S. Citizen currently traveling abroad, you may wish to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program.  You can do so through the Department of State's STEP system.
