Immigrant Visas

Welcome

Welcome to the Immigrant Visa information of the U.S. Mission in Brazil. An immigrant visa is required of anyone who wishes to enter the United States to reside there permanently, whether or not that person plans to seek employment in the United States.

U.S. immigration law provides for the issuance of immigrant visas in four general categories: immediate relatives of U.S. citizens, family based, employment based (including investors), and Diversity Immigrant Visa program, known as the "green card" lottery.

We encourage applicants to learn as much as they can about the laws, regulations and policies involved in processing an immigrant visa application.

The information in this web page is designed to help prospective immigrants understand the process and come to the visa interview prepared. Simply click on one of the links on the left side of the page to begin.
