Applications will be accepted from INTERNAL Local National employees who are seeking promotion or reassignment. Concurrent consideration MAY be given to EXTERNAL applicants. 
Duties Incumbent performs Lifeguard duties to ensure the safety of all swimmers. Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons and stays alert to prevent accidents. Enforces prescribed pool regulations and cautions swimmers regarding unsafe area or practices. Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning or injured in the pool and promptly administers First Aid/CPR as needed. Reports habitual violators of safety and pool regulations to supervisor.
Checks condition of lifesaving equipment daily. Performs daily check of entire pool area for safety hazards with special emphasis on the diving board and diving area. Vacuums the pool with underwater vacuum cleaner and makes necessary PH and chlorine tests. Keeps the area of the pool, including First Aid room, aprons, and bathrooms clean at all times. Assures that only authorized personnel is admitted to the pool. Checks and monitors all customers for valid pool passes and collects fees for daily entries. Is responsible for the accountability and deposit of revenues generated by sales of daily pool passes. Maintains a daily swimming pool operating log. Wears distinctive Lifeguard uniform/identification at all times. Incumbent leads other Lifeguards (US and LN), and volunteers. Assigns work to be performed, keeps in touch with the status and progress of work, estimates and reports on expected time of completion of work, instructs employees in specific tasks, gives on-the-job training to new employees, answers questions on procedures, checks on work in progress, checks on working conditions, reports to supervisor on performances of employees, resolves simple informal complaints, and approves leave for a few hours or for emergencies.
NOTE: Tour of duty will be 40 hours per week as follows:
Monday through Friday from 1000 to 1900 hours (8 working hours and 1 hour lunch break). Hours of duty are subject to change based on operational needs, and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays (American and Italian). Will be crossed trained as front line staff for fitness center.

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements in the Qualification Standards Handbook as summarized below.
Applicants must have a minimum of 6 months of General Experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work which indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Note: Incumbent must possess a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid and Lifeguard Training certification (“brevetto di assistente bagnanti”) (copy of them must be emailed when applying for the position, as an attachement separate from the application form). Candidate must also be fluent in the English language. Position requires moderate to heavy lifting.
