Ensures wing personnel are medically prepared for deployments. Supports comprehensive care to over 36K eligible beneficiaries by participation in $19.7B managed-care contract. Provides support through diagnostics/therapeutics, logistics, resource management, readiness, and managed care services. Executes $12M budget sustaining 241 personnel spanning 40 specialties, 27 readiness UTCs and 300K in outpatient visits annually. Trains/deploys support personnel for contingency operations.

GENERAL INFORMATION
· CAFB pharmacy is open Monday-Friday 0730-1630
· Closed on weekends, Federal Holidays, and Wing Family Days
· Closed the first TUESDAY of each month at 1200 for training
DISPENSING
· The pharmacy accepts both military and civilian prescriptions for eligible beneficiaries. New prescriptions will be filled for any item on the pharmacy formulary. A hard copy prescription with the physician's written signature is required for all new prescriptions. Hard copy prescriptions with stamped or electronic prescriber signatures are not accepted. Telephone, fax prescriptions, and renewal requests are not accepted. Drug information and patient education are available from the pharmacy staff upon request.
· The pharmacy must use generic medications whenever possible. A prescription written as "Dispense as written" may not be accepted.
· Non-controlled prescriptions are honored up to 365 days from the date the prescription was written. These prescriptions may be written for up to a 90 day supply with a maximum of 3 refills.
· Controlled III-V medications are limited to a 30 day supply with a maximum of 5 refills in 6 months. *Note: These prescriptions must be turned in within 180 days of being written.*
· Controlled II medications are limited to a 30 day supply or less with no refills. *Note: These prescriptions must be turned in within 90 days of being written.*
· Controlled medications will not be filled early and post-dated prescriptions will not be filled.
REFILLS
· All refills MUST be called in through the automated telephone refill system and can be picked up Monday-Friday from 0730-1630. Patients with touch-tone telephones must use this system by calling (843) 963-6833 (local) or 866-410-4670 (toll-free #). The refill is typically ready in two duty days. Prescriptions not picked up within 7 calendar days will be placed back in stock.
TRANSFERS
· Prescription transfers can be done for prescriptions filled at other military facilities only, providing that CAFB carries the medication and the original dispensing facility can be reached by telephone during CAFB duty hours.
· Patient must bring prescription bottles at the time of the transfer request. Transfers will be ready in 2-3 duty days.
· The following requirements apply to all transfers:
o Prescription must have refills remaining
o Prescription must be less than one year old
o Prescription cannot be a controlled drug
PRESCRIPTION PICK-UP
· Patients must present a valid military ID at the time of pick-up.
· The patient is the only person authorized to pick up his/her own prescription. A person desiring to pick up prescriptions for another individual must possess 1) a valid photo identification card, 2) a copy of the patients military identification card (front and back), and 3) a signed note from the patient authorizing that individual to pick up medications for the patient.
· EXCEPTION: A parent or legal guardian may pick up prescriptions for patients who are less than 18 years old without the above required items.
MISCELLANEOUS
· Prescription Drop-Off: Individuals who are unable to wait for their medication are able to fill out a request form at the pharmacy kiosk to leave prescriptions to be filled. The prescriptions will be ready for pick-up the following day after 0730. This also applies for individuals seen here in the clinic.

**PLEASE NOTE: Due to space constraints, filled prescriptions can only be stored in the pharmacy for 7 calendar days before being returned to stock. Patients who do not pick up their prescriptions within the 7 day window must request next fill in person and return the next day to retrieve the medications. If you have a special circumstance and you need us to hold your prescriptions a little longer, please give us a call and we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate you.
