Colonel Rob Gomez

Colonel Roberto J. Gomez graduated from Rutgers University in 1988 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps on 18 August 1989.  After completion of The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course in 1990, Colonel Gomez attended flight training in Pensacola and was designated a Naval Aviator in February 1992. Upon completion of the CH-53E training, Colonel Gomez was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 465 (HMH-465) at MCAS Tustin, California and completed three deployments to the Western Pacific, two of which were with Marine Expeditionary Units (MEU). In 1996, he attended the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course at MAWTS-1 in Yuma, AZ. 

 In March 1998, Colonel Gomez attended the Army Aviation Officer Advance Course in Fort Rucker, AL.  He was then assigned to HMH-772, MAG-49, NAS Willow Grove, PA, in September 1998.  While in HMH-772, he served as the Aviation Safety Officer, Director of Safety and Standardization, and was the Detachment OIC for a 4 aircraft deployment to Norway in support of Exercise Battle Griffin ’99. In July 2000 he was assigned to MAG-49 Headquarters as the Assistant Operations Officer, S-2 Officer, and Plans Officer. 

On May 2001, Colonel Gomez was assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Okinawa Japan, as the Air Officer and Assistant Operations Officer.  He participated in several exercises including Cobra Gold, Balikatan (Philippines), and Exercise Foal Eagle (South Korea).  He also planned and helped execute real world humanitarian operations in East Timor acting as the MEU Operations Officer.  In July 2002, Colonel Gomez reported to Marine Aircraft Group 36, MCAS Futenma, Japan, where he held billets as Exercise Operations Officer, Current Operations Officer, Plans Officer and Group Operations Officer.

In March 2004, Colonel Gomez returned to 3D MAW and joined HMH-361 where he was assigned as the Squadron Executive Officer and deployed to Iraq in support of OIF II-2 from July 2004 to February 2005.  In August of 2005, Colonel Gomez transferred to HMM-166 (REIN), 11th MEU and served as the Aviation Combat Element Operations Officer and deployed to the USCENTCOM AOR in support of OEF.  Upon his return he was assigned to Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 11 as the Assistant Operations Officer.  In March 2007 Colonel Gomez transferred to MAG-16 and served as the Group Operations Officer until November 2007. 

In December 2007, Colonel Gomez assumed command of HMH-466, a CH-53E Assault Support Helicopter Squadron.  He led the squadron during successful deployments in support of OIF (Iraq) and OEF Afghanistan.  After turning over command of HMH-466 in May 2009, Colonel Gomez attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces where he graduated as a Distinguished Graduate in June 2010. 

In July 2010, Colonel Gomez reported to the Office of the Secretary of Defense and served as the Senior Marine Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Plans.  He managed the USCENTCOM portfolio which includes several sensitive “Top Priority Planning Efforts” as well as several other crises related planning projects.

Colonel Gomez has been nominated to assume the duties as the Director of the USMC Safety Division.  Colonel Gomez’s personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal with numeral 5, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Fourth Award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Senior Enlisted Advisor

Master Sergeant Mildred E. McIntyre was born and raised in Harlem, NY.   She enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 1992 and underwent recruit training at 4th Recruit Training Battalion, Oscar Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.

In August 1992, Private McIntyre attended and completed the Basic Food Service Specialists School at Camp Johnson, N.C. , and was ordered to report to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, GA for duty as an entry level Food Service Specialists.

Lance Corporal McIntyre was transferred in March 1995 to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, Marine Wing Support Group 17, Iwakuni, Japan for duty.  While assigned to the unit, she held several billets in support of food service operations to include, Assistant Chief Cook, NCOIC of Subsistence, and Chief Messman.  

In June 1997, Sergeant McIntyre received orders to Headquarters Service Battalion,  2nd Force Service Support Group, where she assumed the responsibilities as the 2nd Force Service Support Group, Food Service Office Administrative and Logistics Chief. 

In April 1998 Sergeant McIntyre received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.  Upon completion of Drill Instructor School, she was assigned to 4th Recruit Training Battalion serving as Battalion Training Chief, Drill Instructor, Battalion Color Sergeant, and Senior Drill Instructor.

In April 2001, Staff Sergeant McIntyre was assigned to Marine Corps Food Service School, Marine Corps Detachment, United States Army Quartermasters School of Excellence, Fort Lee, VA as a Food Service Platform Instructor to entry level and Non Commission Officers.  While assigned as an instructor at the school, SSgt McIntyre achieved the distinction as Master Instructor.

In May 2003, Staff Sergeant McIntyre transferred to Weapons Training Battalion, Quantico, VA assigned as the Battalion S-4 Chief.  Staff Sergeant McIntyre was also selected as the Battalion Drill Master and additionally served as a summer augment at Officer Candidate School as an instructor.

In August 2006, Gunnery Sergeant McIntyre was selected to participate in the Staff Non Commission Officer Degree Completion Program, completing the requirements for a Bachelors of Professional Studies Degree in Accounting at the University of Mary Washington, in Fredericksburg, VA. 

After completing her degree, Gunnery Sergeant McIntyre, was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa Japan serving as the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing Ground Safety Manager.  Master Sergeant McIntyre was awarded the General Jones Safety Professional of the Year Award 2009. 

In 2011 Master Sergeant McIntyre was selected to become Commandant of the Marine Corps, Safety Division, Senior Enlisted Advisor.  

Master Sergeant’s personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold one star, and Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars.
