Milan, December 3, 2012 -- Michael Slaby, Chief Integration and Innovation Officer for the Obama 2012 campaign, visited Milan to discuss social media and new forms of communication in politics. On December 3, at the University of Milan and organized with Voices from the Blog, Slaby joined Beppe Severgnini, Marcello Foa, Stefano Iacus and Luigi Curini in a program moderated by Mauro Barisione.

Ambassador Thorne Drives Chevy Volt in Area C
Milan, November 29, 2012 -- During his visit to Milan the U.S. Ambassador David Thorne personally test drove a Chevrolet Volt on the way to his meeting with Mayor Pisapia to promote U.S. exports and green technologies. Ansa published an article highlighting the Ambassador’s initiative, and the article noted that the Ambassador, by driving an electric vehicle, avoided the emission of more than 500 grams of carbon dioxide.

Milan, November 7 -- More than 2,000 guests joined the Election Night celebration in Milan to watch the US Presidential Elections. The event was organized by the Consulate General and Easy Milano, and received the patronage of the Region, Province, Comune, and American Chamber of Commerce.

Promoting LGBT and Women’s Rights
Milan, October 5, -- The U.S. Consulate was pleased to support NGO partners Equality Italia and the Harvey Milk Foundation, who hosted a two-day “Cross Atlantic Global Summit” to address human rights and economic growth, with an emphasis on the advancement of LGBT and women’s rights.

Watching the U.S. Presidential Debates
Milan, October 4 -- Forty guests which included mainly academics, journalists and business people joined U.S. Consul General Kyle Scott at the Consulate to watch a taped replay of the first Presidential debate on U.S. domestic policy. After watching an hour of the debate, the group discussed the significance of debates in U.S. politics and the issues that had been raised.

Waiting for Milan Expo 2015
Milan, October 3 -- Consul for Press and Culture Robert Palladino attended “Waiting for Milan Expo 2015” to learn about the Second International Participants Meeting and and the 1906 World Expo that was held in Milan. Governor Roberto Formigoni, who is also the Commissioner General for Milan Expo 2015, awarded certificates of appreciation to all nations that participated in the 1906 World Expo, including the United States.
