Reporting the birth of a U.S. citizen abroad in Paris is available by online appointment only. The process to report the birth of a U.S. citizen abroad includes three applications and together these three applications make a “complete file.”

Registering the birth of your child at the Embassy in Paris has three steps:
Step 1: Complete all the documents necessary for a complete file
Step 2: Schedule an appointment at the U.S. Embassy in Paris
Step 3: Arrive at the interview with your child
Other Consular Offices in France
Appointments to register the birth of your child and present a first passport application may be made at the Consulate General in Marseille.
You may also apply at the Consulate General in Strasbourg, the American Presence Posts in Lyon, Rennes, Bordeaux, Toulouse and at the Consular Agency in Nice. Please contact these offices directly to make an appointment. However, processing times will be longer if applying from these offices.
