An appointment is required for most American Citizen Services requiring a personal appearance at U.S. Embassy Dublin.  Please see information provided below to schedule your appointment online.

Emergencies:

Special Consular Services:

For emergencies involving Financial Assistance; Arrests/Incarcerations; Medical Emergencies; Death of U.S. Citizens Abroad, contact the Embassy's Special Consular Services Unit at +353-1-630-6200 or email us at ACSDublin@state.gov.  An appointment for any of these emergencies cannot be scheduled on our online appointment system.  However, we advise U.S. citizens to telephone or email us in advance of coming to the Embassy.  Our Consular Section is open for emergency assistance at 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, except for Irish and American holidays.  For information regarding an emergency outside regular business hours please review our emergency contact webpage on this site.

Passport- Emergency Travel:

If your passport has recently been lost, stolen, damaged or mutilated; if you must travel for medical treatment; or you are a student returning/enrolling in a U.S. school/college and your travel is imminent, the U.S. Embassy will accept your application on a walk-in basis.  You do not need to make an appointment online.  However, we advise U.S. citizens, if possible, to email us in advance of coming to the Embassy at ACSDublin@state.gov.  Our Passport Unit is open for emergency assistance to U.S. citizens during regular business hours except for Irish and American holidays.  Please review the information on our Passport Services webpage to assist you with the documents you will require to apply for a U.S. passport.

Security at the Embassy

Please do not bring any electronic devices, such as laptop computers, Blackberries, iPods, or large bags, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages to the Consular Section as there are no storage facilities on Embassy grounds.  Security guards may hold small tourist cameras and cell phones until your departure, but there is no storage available for any other large items or electronic devices — please do not bring them at the time of your appointment.
