Consul General Andrew Parker and his wife, Sheryn Hylton-Parker, hosted a reception at their residence in honor of the second inauguration of President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden. Nearly 100 guests attended the event, including several dignitaries like Member of Parliament Jean Rousseau, Regional Assembly of First Nations Chief for Quebec and Labrador Ghislain Picard, SQ Chief Mario Laprise, Montreal Police Chief Marc Parent and Projet Montréal leader Richard Bergeron, and others from the diplomatic, academic, business and cultural fields.

In his remarks,Consul General Parker reminded his audience of the importance of the relationship between the U.S. and Canada, here and abroad. “It is an honor for me and my colleagues to serve in Canada, a country like ours, are proud of its democratic traditions and values. Where we serve together, Canadian and U.S. diplomats are invariably in tune when it comes to demand respect for human rights, encourage the growth of democratic institutions and demonstrate the potential of a society which is based on the opportunities and initiative. Our mutual recognition of these values makes us good neighbors and good friends”, he said.
