The U.S. Embassy accepts applications for Fulbright fellowship programs for graduate study in the United States from Tanzanians who have minimum two years' working experience with an institution and the endorsement of the institution to apply for the program so they will have a job upon their return. The whole process - from initial application to outbound travel if selected, takes a full year. These programs require applicants be resident in Tanzania and have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree to be eligible.

One of the Fulbright fellowships – for English teachers in their final year or just completed their Bachelor’s degree – is an internship opportunity specifically for English teachers who will be able to teach Kiswahili in the U.S. for one academic year.

The U.S. Embassy also accepts applications for mid-career professionals to go for an academic year of non-degree studies and professional development in the U.S. on the Hubert Humphrey Program – applicants must have five years experience in their field and the endorsement of their institution to apply. The whole process - from initial application to outbound travel if selected, takes a full year. These programs require applicants be resident in Tanzania and have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree to be eligible.

We regret we do not fund graduate programs in Tanzania. For detailed information about our graduate fellowship programs in the U.S. please visit: Our Educational Exchanges website or email our Educational Exchanges Advisor.

Applications for next year’s cycle would be due this year, usually between March and June, depending on the program. Please note that most of the programs have an online application process, with supporting documents to be submitted in person or by mail.
