Embassy

Welcome to U.S. Embassy, Quito official website!

Since its founding, the U.S. Embassy in Quito has been at the center of the vibrant U.S.-Ecuador relationship which includes not only political and economic issues, but an impressive array of educational, humanitarian, cultural, and social links.  The Embassy has become synonymous with the longstanding friendship that exists between these two great nations.

Today the Embassy team is formed of approximately 185 U.S. and 238 Ecuadorian staff.  The Embassy moved to its new home in a state-of-the-art facility in northern Quito on September 17, 2008, and the new complex is located at the corner of Avenida Avigiras E12-170 and Eloy Alfaro.  The new facility is home to all U.S. Government agencies with operations in the country of Ecuador, except Peace Corps.  Visa and Passport processes are housed in the Consular Section of the Embassy complex.

The new building will increase efficiency for the Embassy staff and will provide the safest possible environment for our visitors and employees.

A vital part of the successful U.S.-Ecuador relationship is the U.S. Consulate General located in Guayaquil.  This office became the first official representational office of the U.S. Government in Latin America in 1825.
