Fraud warning

Fraud warning for visa applicants

There are many websites that are NOT official U.S. Government websites offering visa information and services.  The Department of State and the U.S. Embassy do not sponsor or recommend the services or information posted on these sites.

The U.S. Embassy in Chile reminds all visa applicants that the ONLY authorized website for the payment of visa fees is the United States Visa Services site (http://usvisa-info.com).  Using a third-party for this process is NOT necessary.  All applicants for tourist visas must pay a USD $160.00 fee.  There is no additional charge.
A payment ticket can be downloaded from the same site in order to pay the fee in person at any Banco de Chile office.  Additionally, consular interview appointments can be made on this site.
The U.S. Embassy in Chile advises visa applicants to be cautious when dealing with any non-governmental organization that offers paid assistance to obtain a visa for travel to the United States.  Sometimes fees are charged for information or forms that can be obtained free of charge on U.S. Government websites.  Illegitimate websites cannot provide the services they offer and for which they charge.
The U.S. Embassy website has detailed information in English on the types of visas, fees, and the visa application process:  http://english.chile.usembassy.gov/visas.html
