The TIPS program has been instrumental in seeding scientific hardware to the state and tribal customer offices for their use in the implementation of SMCRA for over 20 years. Although the types of hardware have changed since the TIPS program was launched, we still stand behind the training and support needed to keep SMCRA personnel on the forefront of scientific technology.

TIPS uses its "seed" program to provide certain equipment to SMCRA offices for their use and testing. The goal is to let these offices make their own decision as to their need for additional equipment if they find the seed equipment to be beneficial.

Additionally, TIPS loans high-end scientific equipment to SMCRA programs for use on a project by project basis to eliminate unnecessary costs for their customers.
