Free access to deterministic medium-range (3-6 days) weather forecasts including MSLP and 850mb wind. Click here.

We are an intergovernmental organisation supported by 34 States. We provide operational medium- and extended-range forecasts and a state-of-the-art super-computing facility for scientific research. We pursue scientific and technical collaboration with satellite agencies and with the European Commission.

Senior Appointments at ECMWF

20 February 2013 ECMWF is looking to recruit a Director of Operations and a Director of Forecasts. We are moving to a new organisational structure with four instead of three departments, and so the new directors will join Erland Kallen (Director of Research) and Nyall Farrell (Director of Administration) as the directorial team under the overall leadership of Alan Thorpe, the Director-General.

ECMWF forecast data for hurricane Sandy available to researchers

18 February 2013 ECMWF forecast data for hurricane Sandy is available for free download for research use via the TIGGE archive. The TIGGE archive contains ensemble forecast data from nine global models. The ensemble data will enable researchers to explore predictability aspects, including the subtleties of the interaction between Sandy and the extra-tropical flow.

ECMWF Newsletter - Autumn 2012

10 December 2012 The autumn 2012 edition of the ECMWF Newsletter has been published. Slovenia becomes ECMWF's 20th Member State

05 December 2012 On 1 December 2012, the Republic of Slovenia became ECMWF’s 20th Member State. This week, Slovenia was represented at the ECMWF Council session for the first time in its history.
