California Water Science Center
This webcam is located at the USGS stream-gaging station on ARROYO SECO NEAR PASADENA (see map). This station provides continuous monitoring of certain river conditions such as flow and stage. The webcam provides valuable information to the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, National Weather Service, first-responders, and area residents to evaluate real-time conditions in the creek channel during storms. The visual record of flooding and potential debris flows also provides valuable research data for the USGS. |
Our thanks to the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, CA for their support in the location and installation of this webcam. |
Latest Gage Readings*
*Gage records are provisional and subject to revision. |
River Flow (Discharge) | Stage (Gage Height) |
2013-02-14 05:15 PST | 1.26 ft³/s (graph) | 3.2 feet (graph) |
Flood Risk Much of the watershed was severely burned by the Station Fire of October, 2009. Because of this, downstream areas are at high risk for flooding or debris flows. This webcam will allow emergency managers and area residents to evaluate real-time conditions in the channel during storms. |
USGS Gaging Station This houses the electronic equipment which continuously records certain river parameters. These data are transmitted in real time to the USGS National Water Information System (NWIS). |
