BG David J. Bishop
Commander
BG David J. Bishop assumed command of the United States Army Warrior Transition Command and assumed the position of the Assistant Surgeon General for Warrior Care and Transition, July 10, 2012. Prior to taking command, he was the Chief of Staff for Third Army/United States Army Central. BG Bishop received his Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs upon graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in 1984. He later earned a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College.
BG Bishop first served as a tank platoon leader and tank company executive officer with the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor at Fort Stewart, Georgia, from 1984 to 1987. After graduating from the Armor Officer Advanced Course, he served as battalion S-1 and commander of C Company, 1st Battalion, 35th Armor, Erlangen, Germany. He deployed to Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm as the assistant S-3, 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division and remained in Saudi Arabia as Commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Armored Division (Port Support Activity). Upon redeployment to Germany, BG Bishop commanded HHC, 4th Battalion, 70th Armor, in Erlangen, Germany. As a major he served as Battalion S-3 and Battalion Executive Officer, 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Georgia. From 2000 to 2002, he commanded the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor, at Fort Stewart, Georgia and deployed the battalion to Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian. BG Bishop later commanded the 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, at Fort Riley, Kansas from 2004 through 2006 and deployed the Brigade to Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Other assignments include: Armor Branch assignment officer; inspector general, Operations Branch, DAIG; and aide de camp to the Vice Chief of Staff and later to the Chief of Staff of the Army. BG Bishop also served in J-5 Policy and Strategy Division, U.S. Forces Korea; as Chief, Studies, Analysis and Gaming Division, J-8, The Joint Staff; and as Director, Rapid Equipping Force.
Military decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Bronze Star Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with four Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
Retired COL Thomas D. Webb
Deputy to the Commander
As Deputy to the Commander of the Warrior Transition Command, Tom Webb focuses on high-level policy and strategy, supporting the Commander’s vision for Army warrior care and transition.
Mr. Webb retired from the United States Army after nearly 25 years of service. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1985 with a degree in civil engineering and a commission as an Infantry Officer. He holds two masters degrees and completed the Command and General Staff College and the School of Advanced Military Studies.
During his Army career, he served as the Director of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security at Fort Belvoir, coordinating support to the National Capitol Region in response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. He commanded the Oahu Base Support Battalion at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and served as the Operations Officer for the Regional Command West in Afghanistan with the 25th Infantry Division. Most recently, he served as the Infantry Branch Chief and Deputy Director for the Officer Personnel Management Division of the Human Resource Command, where he worked with many wounded officers who chose to Continue On Active Duty.
Mr. Webb’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medals, Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, Expert Infantryman’s Badge and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
CSM Mark A. Dennis
Command Sergeant Major, Warrior Transition Command (WTC)
CSM Mark A. Dennis is a native of Columbia, South Carolina and a 1978 graduate of Airport High School. He entered Active Duty in March 1983 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He completed Basic Training at Fort Bliss, Texas and Advanced Individual Training as a Combat Medical Specialist at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Following advanced individual training he completed Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
CSM Dennis’ previous positions and assignments include all levels of leadership from Squad leader to Battalion Command Sergeant Major. His assignments include three tours at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; two tours in Germany; Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Fort Stewart, Georgia; Fort Bliss, Texas; Fort Huachuca, Arizona; Fort Belvoir, Virginia; and the Warrior Transition Command, Alexandria, Virginia.
His military education includes all levels of the Non-Commissioned Officers Education System through the Sergeants Major Course Class 55, and the Command Sergeants Major Course. He is also a graduate of the Battle Staff course, Air Assault course and the Jumpmaster course.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), the Combat Medical Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
CSM Dennis holds an Associate’s Degree from Harold Washington University, a Bachelor Degree in Management and Human Resources from Park University, Parkville, Missouri, and a Masters Degree in Health Care Management from Park University.
COL Colin M. Greene
Acting Director, U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2)
COL Greene is a native of St. James, New York, and spent his youth on eastern Long Island and in central Florida. In 1980, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from The Johns Hopkins University, and was commissioned from Army Reserve Officers Training Corps as a Distinguished Military Graduate. In 1984, he received his Medical Degree from Temple University under the Army Health Professions Scholarship Program, and completed a residency in Family Practice in Lynchburg, Virginia.
COL Greene's active duty career began as a clinic staff family physician in Bamberg, then-West Germany in 1987. He then progressed to a hospital staff position in Nuernberg, Germany, and in 1993 returned stateside to assume a teaching faculty position at Fort Benning's Family Practice Residency Program. COL Greene was then assigned as Chief of the Family Practice Community Care service supervising all Fort Benning's outlying health clinics; during this time he completed Command and General Staff College, attending classes with Reserve Component officers.
In 1999, COL Greene transferred to Madigan Army Medical Center as a Faculty Development Fellow, earning a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Washington. In 2001, he was assigned to Fort Bragg as Chief of the Directorate of Primary Care, Womack Army Medical Center. In the fall of 2002, COL Greene volunteered to deploy with the 28th Combat Support Hospital as Deputy Commander for Clinical Services (DCCS) and served from March 2003 to February 2004 in Kuwait and Iraq, including eight months as Officer In Charge of a 32-bed subunit hospital near Tikrit. Returning to Fort Bragg, in 2005, COL Greene was selected as DCCS of Womack Army Medical Center, supervising a staff of some 1800 personnel, and acting as Chief Medical Officer for an academic medical center and a healthcare system supporting 120,000 beneficiaries.
In 2007, COL Greene moved to the National Capital Region, serving first as Assistant Chief of Staff for Clinical Operations for the North Atlantic Regional Medical Command, and later as the Command Surgeon for National Defense University. After graduating the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 2011, COL Greene was assigned as the Command Surgeon of the Warrior Transition Command until his present appointment as Acting Director, U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program.
COL Greene's awards include the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, several campaign and service ribbons, and the Airborne badge. COL Greene and his wife, Catherine, recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They have three adult daughters.
