Smart Cards

Smart Cards were first introduced to the Department of the Navy (DON) in 1996. They are no longer simple plastic cards with magnetic stripes that contain static information. Today, Smart Cards have embedded integrated circuit computer chips for storing information such as personal data, area and entry access, and financial information.

DLA Document Services produces and issues Smart Cards for the military. DLA Document Services Smart Cards production involves digital photography, downloading data, and printing the cards. DLA Document Services produces Smart Cards at our facilities at Great Lakes IL, Patuxent River MD, & Pensacola FL.
