National Academies "Whither Biometrics?" Project
The Computer Science and Telecommunications Board (CSTB) convened an expert
committee to provide a comprehensive assessment of biometrics that examines
current capabilities, future possibilities, and the role of government in their
development. It will explore the technical and policy challenges associated
with the development, evaluation, and use of biometric technologies and systems
that incorporate them. It will examine associated research challenges and
identify a multi- and inter-disciplinary research agenda to begin to meet them.
Multiple stakeholders and points of view on multiple technologies,
applications, and implementation issues will be examined as part of the study.
