Douglas C. Greene's Biography

Douglas C. Greene, DCM

Mr. Greene has been Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw since July 2012.  He is a career Foreign Service officer and a member of the Senior Foreign Service.

Mr. Greene joined the U.S. Department of State in 1980.  He has served in Lebanon, Morocco (twice), Yugoslavia, Tunisia, Syria, and Saudi Arabia, including assignments as Principal Officer in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and Casablanca, Morocco.   His most recent assignment was as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from September 2008 until August 2011.  

In Washington, Mr. Greene has served as Syria Desk Officer, Deputy Director of International Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Operations, Executive Assistant to three Undersecretaries for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, and Deputy Executive Secretary of the State Department under Secretaries Powell and Rice.

Mr. Greene graduated from Colgate University in 1977 with a degree in Political Science and Russian Area Studies.  He received a Master of Science from the National Defense University in 2000. Before joining the Foreign Service, he worked for the Department of Defense as an analyst and as a Congressional Relations specialist for Rockwell International corporation.  The son of a Foreign Service officer,   Mr. Greene spent his early years in Mexico, Iran, Lebanon, and Turkey. 

Mr. Greene is married to Randa Habib Greene.  They have two sons, Brandon and Andrew.
