Important Nonimmigrant Visa Announcement

Application Form Ilustration

New NIV Application Procedure

U.S. Embassy Sarajevo announces a significant change to our appointment scheduling, payment, and visa delivery procedures for nonimmigrant visa applicants beginning December 27, 2012.

The U.S. Embassy Sarajevo is transitioning to a new appointment service for nonimmigrant visa applicants. Starting December 27, 2012, applicants will schedule their nonimmigrant visa appointments online or through our new call center. For updated information please see How to Apply. Applicants will not be able to schedule an interview through this new system until December 27, 2012.

We want to ensure that applicants already in the scheduling process are not negatively impacted by the change. In order to ensure you receive the visa services you have paid for, please review the guidance below regarding transition timetables.

APPLICANTS WHO SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT PRIOR TO DECEMBER 26, 2012, BUT HAVE NOT PAID THE VISA APPLICATION FEE:

  • Pay your fee at any Raiffeisen Bank before December 26.  Bring your Raiffeisen Bank receipt with you to your appointment.
  • After December 26, you will pay your fee at the U.S. Embassy.

APPLICANTS WHO PAID THEIR VISA APPLICATION FEE PRIOR TO DECEMBER 26, 2012, BUT HAVE NOT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT:

  • Applicants who want to attend an interview after December 27, 2012 should contact us via e-mail at consularservicesba@state.gov to schedule their appointment.

Note: Applicants must bring their Raiffeisen Bank fee receipt with them to the interview.

The application fee remains valid for one year from the date of payment.

If you purchased a pin you may use it until December 26, 2012 to schedule your appointment.  If you do not use the call center services before that time, the pin will no longer be valid.  However, you will be able to schedule an appointment, at no additional cost, on December 27 through our new system.

NOTE: REGARDLESS OF WHEN APPLYING, ALL APPLICANTS WILL STILL BE REQUIRED TO FILL OUT THE DS-160 APPLICATION ONLINE

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding throughout this transition. We hope that this new service will be a benefit for nonimmigrant visa applicants.
