Statement Regarding Visa Inquiries

General Information

Visa records and all information gathered during the visa application process is confidential and protected by Section 222 f of the Immigration and Nationality Act of the United States. Consular officers are prohibited by this law from discussing the details of visa cases with anyone other than the visa applicant or his or her legal representative.

Consequently, we cannot respond to public inquiries about visa refusals, including inquiries from friends or family members of refused visa applicants. All unsuccessful visa applicants receive a refusal letter from a consular officer stating the specific section(s) of law on which the refusal is based. The United States Department of State webpage on visa denials contains detailed information about the various grounds for visa refusals - http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/denials/denials_1361.html. The information found on that page is the most accurate and detailed information available to members of the public who have questions about the specific grounds for a visa refusal.

Should you have additional concerns, please direct them to us via e-mail at: krakowNIV@state.gov

Information for Legal Representatives of Visa Applicants

If you are the legal representative of a visa applicant and would like to discuss a visa case with a consular officer, please file form G-28 with our office in person. We can accept original, signed G-28 forms from 15:00 – 16:00 on working days. Once we have received and reviewed your G-28 form, a consular officer will contact you to discuss the case.
