Most of your questions are answered on this website. Before contacting us, please read our frequently asked questions.

According to our policy, the Consular Section is only permitted to discuss details of a visa case with the petitioner (applicant), beneficiary and their legal representative. If this is your case, please provide the following information:

  • Applicant’s name and date of birth
  • Applicant’s passport number
  • Your full name, your relation to the applicant
  • Mailing address and telephone number


If you are unable to find the answer to your specific concern on our website, please select an option:

 We do not give visa information over the phone.

We aim to reply to you within 2 opened days. Please keep in mind that during pick season we treat a very large number of inquiries. Take the time to go through the FAQ before sending an email.

Do not send us a file attached to your email. For security reason, we do NOT open any attachment and your email will be deleted.
We DO NOT keep invitation letter. If you want to provide an invitation letter, give it to the applicant who will bring it to the interview.

Interview location

We only receive visa applicant with an appointment.

For security reason, you are not allowed to bring electronic devises in the building, including mobile telephones. To save your time, please leave them at home or in your car/motorbike.

We cannot provide parking spots for your car/motorbike. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation.

You must show a Identification Document (ID) to the guards and they will keep it until you leave the building (Your ID must include a picture and cannot be your passport).

Contagious Disease Notice

We are taking precautions to protect the health and safety of our customers. Therefore, we ask that if you are experiencing fever and cough, sore throat, sneezing, or any symptoms of contagious disease, you not come to the U.S. Embassy Hanoi.

Hours of operations

Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The embassy is closed on Vietnamese and American holidays.
