Trevor Olson

Deputy Consul United States of America to Sumatra

Trevor Olson arrived in Medan in June 2012 as the Deputy Consul.  He worked previously at the U.S. Embassy’s in Uganda, Tajikistan and El Salvador.  Prior to joining the State Department, Trevor attended the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, the University of Washington, and the University of Idaho in his home state. 

Over twenty years ago he first studied the Indonesian language while serving a three-year tour in the U.S. Army, part of which was spent at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta.  He is here in Medan with his wife, an Indonesian who he married in Jakarta 16 years ago and their two daughters, age four and eight.  The entire family enjoys living in Medan, eating the great food that is available, and interacting with the wonderful people.
