Visa Information for Americans

The Japanese government controls visas for Americans hoping to travel, study or work in Japan. General information on visas for Americans.

If you already have a Japanese visa and plan to leave the country temporarily for any purpose, make sure you get a re-entry permit in advance from the Immigration Bureau. Otherwise, you risk all kinds of complications. There is a fee for the permit.

The Nagoya Regional Immigration Bureau is located in the Nagoya Center Building, 3F, 2-2-13 Nishiki, Naka-ku, Nagoya. If you have Japanese immigration-related questions, you can contact the Nagoya Immigration Information Center in English Monday-Friday from 9:00-12 noon, and 1-4:30 pm at (052) 223-7336/7337.
