Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

foreign soldiers marching, with missile in background LLNL has a multidecade history of providing scientific and technical assessments of design, production, testing, deployment, and use doctrine regarding foreign nuclear-weapon systems. We analyze established state-sponsored WMD programs, threats from emerging and newly capable nuclear-weapon states, and terrorist and other subnational groups. We tap the Laboratory's nuclear expertise to assess foreign nuclear stockpiles and the key facilities used for producing fissile materials, manufacturing weapon components, and conducting tests. We also contribute to the understanding of the global availability of nuclear materials through fissile material security, nuclear counterterrorism, illicit transfer, and procurement networks.
