Passport Information

The U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi processes U.S. passport applications by appointment only.  To make an appointment, please follow the instructions found for the passport service you are requesting on this website.  Personal appearance before a consular officer for all applicants (including children) is required. The U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi does not accept applications by mail.

U.S. passport applications received at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi are processed in the United States. This process takes an average of two and half weeks. Applicants are encouraged to apply for or renew their passports as early as possible.  U.S. passport applicants must present evidence of their identity and their U.S. citizenship. Both parents of children under age 16 must also give permission for passport issuance and present evidence of their relationship to the child. Passport Fees

All consular fees may be paid in U.S. dollars, UAE dirhams, or by major credit card.

The U.S. Embassy can now also accept applications for the U.S. Passport Card, which the U.S. Department of State began issuing on July 14, 2008.
