2/28/2012 - Joint Base Andrews, Md. -- The Air Force District of Washington February Fitness Challenge is wrapping up with a capstone event March 1 at the West Fitness Center, Joint Base Andrew, Md. Nine more teams are needed for the competition.

All AFDW Airmen are encouraged to come out and support the 10 teams who volunteer to compete in the day's events. There are nine more spots open for teams to compete; five teams will take home prizes.

The winning teams of the fitness challenge will be announced at the event and receive recognition from Air Force District of Washington Commander Maj. Gen. Darren W. McDew.

The event features a relay race, medicine ball toss, blind free throw, three-legged race and Dodge ball. Additionally, the Fitness Center, Health and Wellness Center, Family Advocacy and Resiliency Flight will all have experts on hand to answer questions and more.

All teams who met a goal during the month's challenge will also receive t-shirts.

Air Force District of Washington is the single Air Force voice for planning and implementing Air Force and joint solutions within the National Capital Region. AFDW organizes, trains, equips and provides forces for Air and Space Expeditionary Force deployment, homeland operations and ceremonial support within the NCR and worldwide. One of the U.S. Air Force's five direct reporting units, the command is located on Joint Base Andrews, Md.
