Share your love for the concept of flight!
The Virginia Air & Space Center in downtown Hampton is a world class aerospace facility. We invite you to become a docent (tour guide) and share your enthusiasm with all age groups. We will provide the training necessary to equip you to interpret the exhibits for our visitors. This opportunity is open to everyone who has a love of air and space. Become a master financial education volunteer
Help individuals and groups reconcile debts, set goals, budget their spending, save money, organize financial records, and learn sound money management skills. Volunteer financial coaches can choose to work one-on-one with individuals and/or teach money management classes to groups such as senior citizens, new immigrants, teens, residents at affordable housing complexes, and many others. Volunteers receive comprehensive training budgeting, retirement planning, home buying, and many other finance topics. 633rd Medical Group and McDonald Army Health Center and American Red Cross Volunteers
There are dozens of American Red Cross volunteers at these two military medical installations working in various areas, including the information desk, many clinics, the pharmacy, the inpatient ward, and as animal assisted therapists. Most volunteers do administrative or receptionist duties. Some volunteers with verified medical certification, do more with patient care.
- Dental Assistant program - two days a week, 10-12 month program where selected volunteers learn to be Dental Assistants and can work for civilian dentists after they complete the program. Offered only on Ft. Eustis.

VA shuttle drivers
The Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center has a proud tradition of supporting the brave men and women who defend our country and we invite you to share in demonstrating your pride in their commitment. Our vision is to provide accessible and continuous pick up and drop off shuttles for anyone coming for doctors appointments or any other official VA business. The VA is seeking volunteers to serve as shuttle drivers. Assistance is needed from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Volunteers can create their own schedule, but are asked to commit to a time slot. To volunteer or for more information, call the Voluntary Service Office at 722-9961, ext. 3124 or3599.
Hospital volunteers
The USAF Hospital Langley is in need of retiree and dependent volunteers to work in areas throughout the Hospital. No experience is necessary. For more information, call Lenord Poniatowski or Bill Shepherd at 764-6384 or e-mail lenord.poniatowski@langley.af.mil.
CAP seeks volunteers
The Civil Air Patrol Langley Composite Squadron seeks adult volunteers and youth cadets for its aerospace education, emergency services and cadet programs. Meals on wheels
The Peninsula Agency on Aging Meals on Wheels Program needs volunteers to deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound local senior citizens in the Southeastern area of Newport News. Meal pickup takes place between 11-11:15 a.m., and delivery takes about an hour. Volunteers may help for one day a week or one day a month, and sign up as an individual or with a group. VASC offers volunteer program
The Virginia Air and Space Center offers the following volunteer program opportunities:

SPCA foster parents
The Peninsula SPCA is in dire need of more foster families to help with the annual Spring influx of abandoned and stray felines. As a foster parent, you would have the option to take in any cats or dogs that become eligible for the foster program. Airman's Attic
The Airman's Attic is looking for volunteers Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to sort donated items and/or assist customers. Langley Airman's Attic has hundreds of free items like dishes, electronics, furniture and baby supplies. In addition, servicemembers can replace ABUs or dress blue clothing items. Speakers Bureau
Langley Air Force Base servicemembers or community organizations interested in joining a pool of skilled communicators ready to respond during crisises or maintain contact within the community, should complete the registration form and e-mail it to the 633 ABW/PA Message Traffic box.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to teach classes at Langley Air Force Base. The American Red Cross may be able to provide you with a meeting place and assist you in coordinating the class. Riverside Pace
We are looking for people to help pass out lunch trays at noon Mondays, assist with the 10:30 a.m. activity, assist with BINGO at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, sit with Bible study participants at 11 a.m. Wednesdays, assist with game days at 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, assist with volleyball or bowling at 10:30 a.m. Fridays, and help with manicures and hair for the ladies at 10:15 a.m. Fridays. We have about some gentlemen who would be interested in just talking. Retiree Activities Office
Military retirees and spouses are invited to volunteer one morning every two weeks from 9 a.m. to noon in the Retiree Activities Office, located in the 633rd Mission Support Group building, Wing D, Room 125, to answer questions and provide information to all military retirees in the area..
