Student Visa (F / M)

The following procedures are for applicants applying for a student visa to study in the United States. These procedures also include accompanying family members.  If your course of study is longer than 18 hours per week, is an accredited course, language training, or attending a university,  you are on the right page.

Prepare

  • Original I-20 
  • Photo: Recent color passport size with white background and one electronic photo for your online application.  (JPEG file format / 240 KB or less)  REMINDER:  No head covers except for religious purposes. 
  • Pay your fee at Commercial Bank of Qatar to receive the yellow receipt for each application.  REMINDER:  Fees are valid for one year. They are not refundable and they are not transferrable.
  • Pay your SEVIS Feehttps://www.fmjfee.com/i901fee/index.jsp REMINDER:  Dependents of Students are not required to pay this fee.

Complete:

  • One application for each person (also for each child):   https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/   (Please print confirmation page.)
  • Passport 
  • Expired passports (if you have them)
  • Dual nationals, please bring both passports (if this applies to you)

 Attend Your Interview:

{Students applying for a student visa may attend an interview without an appointment, Sunday through Thursdays from 9 – 10 am, except official holidays}

  • Application Confirmation Page
  • Original I-20
  • SEVIS Receipt
  • (Keep supporting documents separate)
  • Another form of a picture ID for each person (for security)

REMEMBER: 

Personal appearance is required by applicants 14 years and older on the day of their scheduled appointment.  Please arrive at your scheduled time.  To speed up the process for entry, only applicants are required to come.
