Akram Elias Discusses “Individualism, Community and Civil Society”

Amman – The U.S. Embassy will host Founder and Director of the Capital Communications Group, Akram Elias, for a public lecture entitled “Individualism, Community and Civil Society” at the Columbia University Middle East Research Center (CUMERC) on Wednesday, Oct 10 at 6 p.m. (As limited seats are available, those interested in attending should RSVP at 077 540 5500 or to nb2541@columbia.edu).

During his visit to Jordan from October 9 – 11, Mr. Elias will also address students at Yarmouk University’s School of Journalism on the American experience with the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and freedom of speech.  He will also speak with the American Studies Program at the University of Jordan.  In addition, Mr. Elias will conduct a seminar on public service for youth community leaders and civil society organizations. 

Mr. Elias has over 22 years of professional experience as a consultant in the areas of public diplomacy, cross-cultural training, and communication. Since 1995, Mr. Elias has worked with the U.S. Department of State and numerous private organizations such as Meridian International Center, Freedom House, the Institute of International Education, and World Learning Inc. to give in-depth briefings on the U.S. government, politics, culture, and society.
