First Visit of Ambassador Kubiske to La Ceiba, Atlantida

LA CEIBA - Ambassador Kubiske travelled to the city of La Ceiba in the Department of Atlántida for the first time on January 23 and 24.  The two-day visit gave the Ambassador an opportunity to observe the municipality's pro-active and collaborative approach toward crime prevention and the ways the U.S. Embassy is supporting these efforts. 

After meeting with Mayor Carlos Aguilar, the Ambassador visited the Garifuna NGO Ecosalud.  With support from USAID, Ecosalud educates men, women, and young people about reducing their risk of contracting HIV/AIDS.  The Ambassador also paid a visit to the pineapple plantation of Standard Fruit, one of the oldest U.S. companies in Honduras.
