Under Secretary Sherman meets President Museveni

Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman visited Kampala from November 1 to November 3, 2012. Her visit focused on increasing trade between the United States and Uganda and regional security.  Ambassador Sherman also highlighted the importance of good governance and a strong civil society for democracy and economic growth.

During her visit, Under Secretary Sherman discussed the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) with representatives of the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program, and visited The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) in Mulago.  She also attended roundtable discussions with members of civil society, Ugandan opinion leaders, youth, and the leadership of the Uganda Women’s Parliamentary Association (UWOPA).
 
On this trip to Africa the Under Secretary also visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, Somalia, South Africa, Kenya and Ethiopia.
