Jordan Ostia, La Inmaculada School in Quepos

Jordan Ostia is in first grade of La Inmaculada School in Quepos. At his young age, Jordan fully understands the harm caused by drugs and how important is to stay away from them.

See the message that Jordan prepared and enthusiastically presented during the closing ceremony of the Red Ribbon Week that took place in Quepos. Along this week, students from 16 schools and high schools from the zone learned about the scourge of drugs and they also participated in cultural and sports events, as a way to prevent the use of narcotics.

This is the sixth consecutive time that Costa Rica commemorates the Red Ribbon Week, held every year in honor of special DEA Agent Enrique Kiki Camarena, murdered in 1985 in Mexico at the hands of drug trafficker Rafael Caro Quintero, who was detained in Costa Rica that year.

A 1988 resolution from the U.S. Congress and a Presidential Proclamation established the last week of October as the National Red Ribbon Week, as recognition to Kiki’s sacrifice. Throughout this week healthy life styles, productive and drug-free are promoted.
