Great Lakes Compact

Fire Danger:  Fire danger was low to moderate.

Fire Weather:  A strong low will continue to lift northeast through the northern Big Rivers and southeastern Great Lakes Thursday afternoon into Friday creating areas of heavy snow and strong winds across southern and eastern Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan.  Rain will change over to snow across the LP of Michigan and far eastern Wisconsin.  Mainly dry conditions are forecast Friday evening into Sunday with a chance of snow across the compact early next week. 

 

Big Rivers Compact

Fire Danger: Fire danger was low to moderate.

Fire Weather: A strong low will continue to lift northeast through the northern Big Rivers and southeastern Great Lakes Thursday afternoon into Friday creating areas of heavy snow and strong winds across eastern Iowa, northern Missouri, and northwestern Illinois.  Rain will change over to snow across the southeastern half of the Big Rivers.  Mainly dry conditions are forecast Friday afternoon into Sunday with a chance of precipitation across the compact early next week.

 

Northeast Compact

Fire Danger:  Fire danger was low to moderate.

Fire Weather:  Areas of rain or a mixture of precipitation will change over to snow as a strong low advances from the southeastern Great Lakes through the Northeast Thursday evening into Saturday evening.  Chilly and strong northwest winds will affect the compact behind the low Saturday into early Sunday.  Mainly dry conditions are forecast Sunday into Monday with another chance of snow expected Monday night into Tuesday. 

 

Mid-Atlantic Compact

Fire Danger: Fire danger was low to moderate.                                             

Fire Weather:  Areas of showers and a few storms will spread through the compact into Thursday night ahead of a cold front associated with a strong low set to advance through the Big Rivers and southeastern Great Lakes.  Rain will change over to snow from west to east later Thursday night into Friday as cold air gets drawn into the Mid-Atlantic States on the backside of the low.  The greatest snowfall will occur in the higher elevations of the Appalachians and linger into Friday night.  Mainly dry conditions are expected this weekend.  Additional areas of precipitation will spread through the compact Monday into Monday night.

Fuels/Fire Potential

Precipitation, snow pack, and soil moisture anomalies are still below normal across portions of northwestern and west central Minnesota.   

Resources

Resources are expected to be adequate across the Eastern Area this forecast period.
