Family and Caregivers
Family members and caregivers play an important role in a wounded, ill, or injured Soldier's recovery and transition. They provide emotional support and stability and assist the Soldier in navigating available benefits and programs.
WTU cadre understand the importance of Soldiers' Families and caregivers and view them as key contributors for each Soldier's recovery and transition. When possible, Family members and caregivers should attend appointments with the Soldier and collaborate with the Soldier's Triad of Care and other providers.

Family/Caregiver Role in the Comprehensive Transition Plan
Family members and caregivers also play a role in each Soldier's Comprehensive Transition Plan (CTP). Each week, the Family member or caregiver should complete the CTP self-assessment with the Soldier and support the Soldier in achieving his/her goals. The Family member or caregiver should also attend all CTP Scrimmages with the Soldier.
Caregivers' Guide to the Comprehensive Transition Plan
The Caregivers' Guide to the Comprehensive Transition Plan is an online learning resource designed to help Family members and caregivers understand the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU), the Comprehensive Transition Plan (CTP) process, their role in the seven-part process, and available resources so that they are well prepared to support their warrior.
