Announcements
Open To
Each vacancy announcement includes an Area of Consideration from which
the selecting official can reasonably expect to receive an adequate
number of qualified candidates. Based on your current employment
status, you can use the drop down list to select the type of
announcements you wish to view. If your selection contradicts your
current employment status, you may retrieve announcements in which you
are not eligible to apply.
Announcement
Number Containing
Announcement number containing allows you to search for vacancy
announcements by the entire number or part of an announcement number.
For example, type the entire number to retrieve a specific announcement;
or type 12345 to retrieve a list of all current vacancy announcements
containing 12345.
To
limit your search to a specific region, type in a regions
3-character identifier. For example, type the regional
identifier AAL to retrieve a list of all current vacancy announcements
in the Alaskan region.
To
limit your search to a Line of Business (LOB), type in an LOB's
3-character identifier. For example, type the LOB identifier
AAD to retrieve a list of all current vacancy announcements in the
Administration line of business.
Title
Containing
Title containing allows you to search for vacancy announcements
by job title or partial title. For example, type "sec"
to retrieve a list of all current vacancies that contain "sec"
in the title, such as secretary or security officer. The more
specific you are the shorter the list you will receive.
Series
A series is a number which identifies a group of similar jobs.
For example, 318 is the series for secretary or 2152 is the series for
air traffic controller. From the drop down list, select a number to
limit your search to vacancies in a given series.
Grade/Level
Two characters which identify the range of difficulty and
responsibility, as well as the level of qualification requirements for
a vacancy. Select a Grade/Level from the drop down list to limit
your search to a specific grade/level. To maximize your search for
vacancies, you may also want to complete the pay band, job category,
or desired salary fields.
Pay
Band
Under the new compensation system, each pay band represents a
salary range. In accordance with the pay band rates, you may select a Pay Band from the drop down list.
Not all jobs will have a pay band association. To maximize
your search for all vacancies, you may also want to complete the grade,
job category, and/or desired salary fields.
Job
Category
Under the new compensation system, job series are grouped
together into job categories, based on the
similarity of duties and responsibilities. There are nine job
categories: Administrative Support, Clerical Support, Engineering,
Paraprofessional, Professional, Specialized, Student, Technical, and
Technical Support. Using the drop down list, select a
category that best describes the grouping of duties and responsibilities
of your desired vacancy. Not all jobs will have a job category
association. To maximize your search for vacancies, you may also
want to complete the grade, pay band, and/or desired salary fields.
Desired
Annual Salary
From the drop down list, you may select your desired annual
salary rate. To select a desired salary rate, click on the arrow
to the right of the "desired annual salary" option to display
the dropdown list and click on your selection.
State
To select a state, click on the arrow to the right of the state
option to display the dropdown list and click on your selection.
Select a state to limit your search to current vacancy announcements in
that state.
Nationwide Announcements
Nationwide Vacancy Announcements are used to fill positions
in FAA facilities everywhere. If you are only interested in certain
locations or facilities, you will be able to specify where you wish to
be considered when you apply, even on a Nationwide Announcement.
Opened
The time period when the announcement opened for public
viewing. For example, by selecting "Last Week", only
announcements that have opened within the last 7 days will be displayed.
By default, all opened announcements will be displayed.
