About Cobra Gold 2013

Exercise Cobra Gold is a recurring multinational and multiservice exercise hosted annually by the Kingdom of Thailand and developed by the Thai and U.S. militaries, scheduled to be held Feb. 11-21, 2013 throughout Thailand.  Cobra Gold 2013 will consist of a staff exercise, various senior leader engagements, a field training exercise and humanitarian and civic assistance projects.  CG 13, in its 32nd iteration, is designed to advance regional security by exercising a robust multinational force from nations sharing common goals and security commitments in the Asia-Pacific region.  The staff exercise and senior leader engagements will sustain and reinforce the foundation and framework for a multinational force to respond rapidly and effectively to regional crises.

The STAFFEX will combine service members from Thailand, the United States, Singapore, Japan, Republic of Korea, Indonesia, and Malaysia in a multinational force planning team that will develop an operations plan to be executed during a command post exercise at CG 14.  During the field training exercise, forces from Thailand, the United States, Japan, Republic of Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia will conduct training designed to enhance interoperability and strengthen regional relationships.  Elsewhere in Thailand, military personnel from the Thailand, the United States, Singapore, Japan, Republic of Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia will participate in humanitarian and civic assistance projects designed to improve the quality of life and local infrastructure for the Thai people as well as to share medical best practices with the local population.
