Gary L. Gilbert

Gunnery Sergeant Gary L. Gilbert is a native of Littlestown, PA. In October of 1996 he graduated from Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.

Upon completion of Recruit Training, Private First Class Gilbert attended the Basic Course of Instruction at the Armed Forces School of Music in Virginia Beach, VA. While there, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.

In September of 1997, Lance Corporal Gilbert graduated from the Armed Forces School of Music and was assigned to the Quantico Marne Corps Band as a saxophone instrumentalist. While serving there he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and Sergeant.

In June of 2001, Sergeant Gilbert was assigned to Marine Forces Pacific Band as a saxophone instrumentalist and Platoon Sergeant. While serving there, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In June of 2004, Staff Sergeant Gilbert was assigned to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band as a saxophone instrumentalist and Assistant Instrument Repair Technician.

In August of 2005, Staff Sergeant Gilbert was assigned to the Red Wing Repair School in Red Wing, MN where he became certified as an Instrument Repair Technician and in May of the following year, Staff Sergeant Gilbert was assigned to the Armed Forces School of Music as the Instrument Repair Technician.

In June of 2008, Staff Sergeant Gilbert reported to The Albany Marine Band where he was assigned as the Instrument Repair Technician. He was promoted to his current grade of Gunnery Sergeant and also served the billet of Bandmaster.
 
In March of 2012 Gunnery Sergeant Gilbert was assigned to the Marine Forces Pacific Band where he is currently serving as their Instrument Repair Technician.
 
Gunnery Sergeant Gilbert’s awards include the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, And the Global War on Terrorism Medal.
