1/13/2011 - KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- The Tops in Blue "We Believe" worldwide tour stopped at Kunsan Air Base to perform for more than 600 Wolf Pack and Republic of Korea Air Force Airmen Jan. 11-12.

The purpose of the expeditionary performance group's 2010 tour was to entertain and lift the morale of military members stationed worldwide at remote and deployed locations with music that included Michael Buble, Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, the Black Eye Peas and more.

The Wolf Pack invited Airmen from the ROKAF 38th Fighter Group, stationed at Kunsan Air Base, to also enjoy the show.

"It was a very important event for us. On behalf of all the Airmen of the 38 Fighter Group, I would like to thank Wolf for arranging such a great show that boosted our energy," said Col. Jung Sang-Hwa, 38th FG commander.

The performance had more than just music - it was a 90-minute show that featured choreographed dances, comedy and audience interaction. The base theater was transformed into a Vegas-like set that stimulated the audience's sight and sound with glittered costumes, bright lights and smooth sounds.

It was an opportunity to share the universal language of music with coalition partners and the host nation.

"It was a memorable show from beginning to end, and we do not get many chances to watch performances like this while serving the military," said Senior Airman Gang Gun-He, 38th FG Maintenance Squadron. "One of the reasons I wanted to serve at the 38th FG was to interact with U.S. Airmen. Watching this performance, I feel more proud being a member of 38 FG. "

Staff Sgt. Antonio Howard, security forces journeyman and Tops in Blue vocalist, said performing for the Korean audience here was an amazing feeling, especially when he could see how excited they were to hear the music and see the show.

According to the sergeant, the performances for U.S. service members help lift morale, especially for people who are separated from their families and friends.

"It brings a little piece of home (to deployed members)," said Sergeant Howard. "Sometimes someone might just have a bad day, and somehow the music and performance can make that day better."

The show boosted the morale of one Wolf Pack Airman.

"Since we have limited entertainment options as a remote base, the live show was really a morale booster," said Senior Airman Woodrow Walkup, 8th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. "It's a great show to watch, and it's much more than I expected."

At the end of the show, the audience honored the group with a standing ovation. As a token of appreciation, Col. John Dolan, 8th Fighter Wing commander, and Colonel Jung both presented gifts to the group on behalf of their Airmen.

Tops in Blue is composed of Airmen from a variety of Air Force specialty codes, who audition and volunteer for the one-year program. To date, the Tops in Blue have traveled over four million miles to military bases throughout the world. To find out more about the group's tour, click here.
