Aurora Elementary Operation Caring Classroom Assembly
November, 2012- Senator Hoeven meets with West Fargo-based Aurora Elementary School students during an assembly held to discuss the meaning of Veterans Day and the importance of honoring America’s military families, and especially the children of military service members. The ceremony is part of a nationwide effort led by the Armed Forces Foundation to designate the week prior to Veterans Day as Operation Caring Classroom as a way to teach students from across the country more about our nation’s veterans, armed forces and military families. Aurora Elementary is representing the State of North Dakota in this program. -
Northrop Grumman Leaders in Grand Forks
October, 2012- Senator Hoeven brings Northrop Grumman senior leadership to Grand Forks to see firsthand the opportunities Grand Forks and the region have to offer the company, which manufactures the Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle. The project could form the nucleus of a new Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) technology complex linking the private sector and the Air Force Base the senator said. -
West Fargo Main Avenue Ribbon Cutting
November, 2012- Senator Hoeven is joined by state and city officials to celebrate the opening of West Fargo’s Main Avenue project, a 1.4-mile long section of roadway connecting West Fargo to Fargo. The infrastructure upgrade was prompted by increased traffic on the route owing to economic and population growth in both communities. -

October, 2012- Senator Hoeven joins the community in honoring about 30 North Dakota Army National Guard soldiers who are deploying for a yearlong mission in Cuba. October, 2012- Senator Hoeven, along with Novaspect Holdings Inc. chief financial officer Mike Franz and other executive team members, break ground for Novaspect’s new facility in Mandan. The groundbreaking marks Novaspect’s ongoing efforts to expand in North Dakota. The company has held a sales presence in North Dakota since 1992 and has decided to center its first physical facility in Mandan as an effective means to best serve all regions of the state. -

Camp Grafton Readiness Center
September, 2012 - Senator John Hoeven joins members of the North Dakota National Guard at a ceremony to dedicate the completion of a $12 million addition and alteration project of the Camp Grafton Readiness Center. The project, funded by Congress, remodeled the existing Readiness Center, adding more than 55,000 square feet of new space to the center and incorporating green building design to the renovation. The Readiness Center is used for troop education and training activities at Camp Grafton. -
Hometown Heroes
September, 2012 - Senator John Hoeven honors about 250 members of the North Dakota Air National Guard (NDANG) and their families for their service to the nation at a Hometown Heroes event. Senator Hoeven, Governor Jack Dalrymple, Congressman Rick Berg, Major General David Sprynczynatyk and other military and community leaders thank the Airmen, who served on active-duty orders for 30 days or more between Jan. 1, 2009 and Dec. 31, 2010. -

Weather Service Radar Upgrade
August, 2012 - Senator John Hoeven tours the National Weather Service’s Forecast Office in Bismarck and announces an upgraded Doppler radar for the state that employs new life-saving technology. Hoeven joined the Bismarck office in unveiling the dual polarization, or “dual pol” radar, which provides meteorologists with enhanced information to more accurately track, assess and warn the public of approaching high-impact weather. -
Roers Development Southgate Addition Groundbreaking
August, 2012 - Senator John Hoeven, along with city and state leaders, participates in a groundbreaking ceremony to mark construction of a new residential and commercial development project, known as the Southgate Addition, in Minot. The new project will develop a hotel, 70 extended stay housing units, 371 multi-family residential units and a 180,000-square-foot retail center. The project will cost an estimated $109 million and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2013. -

WWII Medal Presentation Ceremony
July, 2012- Senators Hoeven and Kent Conrad present military honors to North Dakota native Pvt. First Class Kenneth Johnston who served in the United States Army during World War II. Johnston’s military decorations had been stored in his parents’ Sanish, North Dakota home but were misplaced following their deaths in 1957. Pvt. Johnston’s family worked with Sen. Conrad to secure duplicates of the medals and with Sen. Hoeven to hold a ceremony to present and honor Pvt. Johnston with these medals. -
