Consular Reports of Birth Abroad for U.S. Citizen Children Born in France

You may request an appointment in Bordeaux to submit your child’s application for a report of birth abroad by calling 05 56 48 63 85 or by e-mailing: usabordeaux@state.gov.

Personal appearances by minor children and parents are required for all birth registrations in order to obtain a Consular Report of Birth Abroad for U.S. citizen children born in France.  Please refer to: http://france.usembassy.gov/birth_abroad.html for further information on forms and required documents. 

Processing Times for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad

All applications for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad initiated in Bordeaux are transmitted to the U.S. Embassy in Paris for processing.  Applications accepted in Bordeaux take approximately one week longer to be processed than the ones submitted directly to Paris.  If an application for a report of birth in Paris takes two weeks for processing and delivery, then the same application would take 3-4 weeks if initiated in Bordeaux.
