Goal:

Provide HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) prevention and care services for most at risk mobile populations

Objectives:

  • Expanded access to a network of key prevention, care and support services for most at risk populations
  • Strengthened quality of prevention services and community based care for at risk populations
  • Increased demand and supportive environment for provision and use of key services
  • Strengthened institutional and technical capacity of local NGOs, private facilities

Description:

TransACTION covers the most at-risk populations in 120 towns and communities along identified transportation routes. The program aims to prevent new infections, strengthen linkages to care and support services, promote behavior change and communication, increase economic empowerment to avert new infections, build capacity, and promote gender equity and equality. The focus group of the project includes commercial sex workers, women and men involved in cross generational and transactional sex, mobile and migrant workers including truck and bus drivers, seasonal farm workers, domestic workers, people living with HIV; and discordant couples.
