‘You Have One Key Tool – A Quality Education’

Shanna Dietz Surendra, Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, presented the convocation address and awarded degree certificates to over 205 women students at Islamiah College, Vaniyambadi on January 3, 2013.   

Congratulating them, she said, “As I stand in front of this group of impressive women leaders, I want to remind you to be proud of your accomplishments!  But also remember that the degree conferred upon you today is not only a validation of these accomplishments, but also another starting point for continuing to learn, to question, and to think critically.  I urge you to make this commitment to yourself – the world needs your critical eye and questioning mind.  It’s up to you to decide where you go from here.  The good thing is you now have one key tool – a quality education – that you can use in so many different ways.”
